Ram Varadarajan, President and CEO
Ram Varadarajan co-founded Arcot Systems in 1997. Under his leadership, Arcot has made a significant impact in the security field by providing multifactor and strong authentication solutions that are both easy to use and scalable to millions of consumers and businesses. Ram was instrumental in launching and marketing products that enhance the security of credit card shopping on the Internet with the Verified by Visa, MasterCard SecureCode and JCB J/Secure programs. Arcot's seminal invention, the ArcotID, has made strong authentication accessible to the consumer marketplace by combining a solution that is safe, yet simple for people to use. Ram has grown the company year over year with Arcot solutions now protecting over 100 million users worldwide.
Ram has more than 20 years of experience in leading security and mission critical computing endeavors. Before co-founding Arcot, he held executive positions in R&D at Informix Software where he led innovation and development of security and high end database products. He has the distinction of developing and commercializing the first multi-level secure database system at Informix that was awarded the B1 level certification from the United States Department of Defense. He also headed efforts that enabled Informix to establish a record benchmark for transaction processing (TPC). Ram also led the R&D efforts at ImagineCard, a smartcard initiative between Informix, Gemplus and Hewlett Packard.
Ram has authored several patents and holds an M.S. from Louisiana State University and a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
David Kaplan, Chief Financial Officer
David has over 25 years' management experience spanning early-stage enterprises to Fortune 500 companies. Prior to joining Arcot in 2007, David served as chief financial officer at Dragon Media Online, Inc. He previously held senior financial executive positions overseeing operations for Weathernews Inc. and Home Account Network, Inc., where he led the raising of institutional equity and debt financing and eventual successful sale of the company. David has actively served as a strategic advisor and board member for a number of high technology companies. He also spent nine years at PG&E Corporation overseeing corporate planning and finance and lobbying on regulatory matters in California. David holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Geophysics from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard.
Jim Reno, Chief Technology Officer
Jim brings decades of engineering expertise and product development success to Arcot. Prior to joining Arcot in 1999 as vice president, product development and engineering, Jim was vice president and chief technologist at Vantive Corporation. He has also held senior development and management positions at Informix, SCO, and Olivetti. Jim is one of the inventors of the 3-D Secure protocol used in the Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode programs and he holds multiple patents in the area of credit card verification and authentication. Jim holds a BS from MIT and also MSCS and MBA degrees from the University of Illinois.
R. 'Doc' Vaidhyanathan, Chief Product Officer, CTO SEND
Doc joined Arcot in 2000 as vice president, product management. Prior to Arcot, he was with Majesco Software where he was vice president of global outsourcing. Doc also held management and development positions at TDICI and Tata Unisys. He is a frequent speaker at security conferences and events. Based on his broad experience with customers and technologies, Doc is frequently quoted as industry expert on authentication. Doc serves on the Board of CRY America. He holds a bachelor's degree (B.Tech) in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management.
Taher Elgamal, Ph. D., Chief Scientist
Known as the driving force behind SSL, Dr. Elgamal is a noted expert in security, electronic commerce, and other Internet applications. He invented the Elgamal signature scheme which became the basis for Digital Signature Algorithm (DSA) adopted by National Institute of Standards and Technolgoy (NIST) as the Digital Signature Standard (DSS). He also participated in the 'SET' credit card payment protocol, plus a number of Internet payment schemes. He was CTO at Tumbleweed until its acquisition by Axway where he currently serves as Chief Security Officer. He was previously founder of Securify, chief scientist at Netscape Communications; director of engineering at RSA Data Security; co-founder and vice president of technology at InfoChip Systems; and scientist at Hewlett Packard Laboratories. Dr. Elgamal obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Cairo University, and Masters and Doctorate degrees in Computer Science from Stanford University. He holds a Ph.D. in public key cryptography from Stanford University. He serves on several public and private boards and as advisor to several companies.
Nat D. Natraj, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Field Operations
Nat joined Arcot in 2007, following his role as founder and CEO of eFORCE, a global solutions provider. Prior to eFORCE, he held the position of Vice President and General Manager of Siebel Systems's Financial Services division. Nat also held executive positions including Vice President and General Manager at Scopus Technology, later acquired by Siebel Systems, and Vice President and Business Unit Manager at Alysis Technologies through the completion of its successful IPO. Earlier, Nat held positions in Product Management and Marketing at TRW and Wang Labs. He holds an MS in Chemical Engineering from University of Virginia and a bachelor's degree (B.Tech) in Chemical Engineering from IIT Bombay.
Carol Stone Alexander, Vice President, Marketing
Carol joined the Arcot executive team in 2006. Her professional career spans 25 years of high-tech experience in marketing, product management and channel marketing. Prior to joining Arcot, Carol spent five years as vice president worldwide marketing with Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. She has also held VP marketing positions at Sendmail Inc., Amdahl Corporation, and Fujitsu. Carol has a BA in mathematics from Goucher College and did graduate work in computer science at Villanova University.
Suril Desai, Vice President, Engineering
Suril brings a wealth of experience in enterprise class products, from product design/architecture to product release. Having joined Arcot in 2000, Suril was extensively involved in building Arcot's ePayments product suite. He relocated to India in 2003 where he was responsible for the delivery of Arcot TransFort suite. Since then, Suril has been instrumental in building and maintaining the fully operational Arcot India engineering center. He has worked closely with global customers and brings their needs and market knowledge gained to influence product design and implementation. Prior to Arcot, Suril worked at Scient where he built e-business applications for niche technology companies. Suril holds a MS in Computer Science from the University of Southern California and a MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
Sanjay Vyas, Vice President & General Manager,
Managed Services
Sanjay has a wealth of experience in engineering, product delivery and customer support. Sanjay joined Arcot in 1999 as a QA and engineering manager and was then promoted to director of payment systems. Sanjay was instrumental in delivering Arcot's ePayment products to the market place and he led the delivery of Arcot TransFort product suite to thousands of 3-D Secure issuers and millions of cardholders worldwide. Sanjay was promoted to vice president in 2006. Prior to Arcot, Sanjay worked for vJungle. Sanjay holds a bachelor's degree (B. Tech) in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and an MBA from Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley.
Surra Yanamadala, Vice President, Solutions Engineering
Surra brings an expanse of knowledge in technical skills to Arcot ranging from PKI-based security products and SaaS services, to operating systems and database internals. Surra joined Arcot in 2005 as Senior Director of Enterprise Solutions. Since then he has been instrumental in acquiring marquee strategic accounts. His expertise in on-premise deployments and SaaS cloud offerings and experience in both SaaS and Enterprise Licenses Delivery are lauded by Arcot customers. Prior to joining Arcot, Suresh was VP of Engineering at Netli Inc., which provides application delivery network services. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from National Institute of Technology, India.
Jonathan Gill, Vice President, Arcot International
Jonathan is responsible for Western Europe, Middle East and Africa and since joining Arcot in 2006 has overseen rapid year-on-year growth. He has a wealth of leadership experience and has an outstanding record of growing new business across a broad range of technologies and vertical markets. His career has included software vendors and channels with a mixture of established blue chip and start-up companies. Jonathan has held leadership and senior sales positions in the UK, most recently at IBM Software Group where he was key to developing their Security Software propositions in the UK financial sector. Jonathan was also instrumental in the EMEA growth of US-owned start-up Securant Technologies, prior to their successful acquisition in 2001. Prior to that he held leadership and sales roles at Integralis, the company largely recognized for pioneering the UK security market in the 1990's. He began his career at UK VAR Wick Hill. Jonathan is active in the banking and cards community, working closely with the card schemes, payment associations, processors, banking customers, technology partners, channel partners and enterprise and has helped large and small financial and enterprise organizations realize huge savings in fraud and operational cost through adopting Arcot solutions. He has an Economics degree from Coventry University.
Raj Gopalakrishna, Managing Director, Arcot R&D Software, India
Prior to joining Arcot in 2000 to build Arcot's R&D center in Bangalore and architect the Arcot products, Raj served as architect at Informix Software Inc. where his main responsibilities included architecting the Informix database server products. He conceived, designed, and built MaxConnect. Raj has extensive experience in database internals, enterprise applications, performance and scalability, high availability, benchmarking, communication systems, networking and operating systems. He holds numerous patents and has a B.S. in Computer Science.
Michael Seifert, Managing Director, Arcot GmbH
Michael joined Arcot in 2001 as a Managing Director and began immediately to strengthen the Arcot brand and business in Central Europe. His responsibilities expanded to Central Europe, South-, South-East-, as well as East Europe and all CIS Countries. Under his direction, Arcot grew to a market-leadership position in those countries. Prior to Arcot, he was VP Marketing at Medienunion Ludwigshafen AG. His career flourished and he later became VP Sales for Payment Cards worldwide at Giesecke & Devrient. During his 7 years at G&D he obtained a wide range of experience and a worldwide network in the payment area including all activities regarding new technologies at Visa and MasterCard. Michael is a well known and highly respected partner and expert in all payment related business areas and is frequently a featured speaker at Payment Industry conferences. He has an Economics degree from the University of Augsburg, Germany.

Martin Hellman, Professor Emeritus, Stanford University
Professor Hellman has been on the faculty at Stanford University since 1971. Dr. Hellman's invention of public key cryptography (jointly with Diffie and Merkle) has been widely covered in such media as Scientific American and Time magazine. Previously, Hellman was on the faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and on the research staff at the IBM Watson Research Center. Dr. Hellman holds a B.S. from New York University and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Stanford University.
Bruce Schneier, Founder and Chief Technical Officer of BT Counterpane
Mr. Schneier is an internationally-renowned security technologist and author of eight books, including his book, Beyond Fear, which tackles the problems of security from personal safety, crime, corporate security, to national security; Secrets & Lies, which has sold 80,000 copies since 2002. One of his earlier books, Applied Cryptography, the seminal work in its field, has sold over 150,000 copies and has been translated into five languages. Designer of the popular Blowfish encryption algorithm, Mr. Schneier's Twofish was a finalist for the new Federal Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). Mr. Schneier holds an MS degree in computer science from American University and a BS degree in physics from the University of Rochester.
